Serving the Present …

Today The Bowen House is on the Ohio Registry of Historic Homes and it continues its proud heritage of serving the community.  Music lessons and recitals are still given in the parlor, people of all ages still gather to learn and discuss, and picnics, weddings, and concerts are still held on the lawn which is one again filled with flowers.  From spring to fall the yard still plays host to games and children’s activities. Poetry, theatre and art events for young and old alike are among frequent activities that regularly take place at the house.

Today, the house is a backdrop for activities throughout the year from the Celebrations Trees in December to the weekly Summer Concert Series.  A current Calendar of Events can be picked up at the house or from the link on this webpage.

The Bowen House makes a wonderful showcase for weddings, parties, receptions, marketing shows and other events.  There are several large and small rooms, so that arrangements can be

made to accommodate any size qroup.  Tables, chairs, kitchen facilities, and lawn and garden areas can be utilized as needed.

Preparing the Future …

As it enters a third century, the house has remained true to the visions of Eveline Rochester and Lucy Bowen.  It has maintained strong links to the educational and cultural development of our future – our children.  Its programs and activities provide for our future writers, poets, artists and musicians.  But just as importantly, they provide for people of all ages – from toddlers to senior citizens.

We hope that you will share in these activities and take the opportunity to become a member or supporter of the Bowen House.  Membership provides you with the satisfaction of helping support an art and education center that benefits the Hocking Hills Community and Southeastern Ohio.
