Continuing with the spring fever theme, the work of Hocking County’s “seedling” artists is spotlighted.  Beautiful pieces created by area elementary and middle school art students compliment the spring season and its promise of life renewed.

Logan High School Art Show

High School Art Featuring the work of some of the region’s finest young artists, this annual show includes a fine sampling of works produced in the Logan High School Fine Arts Department as well as works selected and exhibited in the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition Regional Show at the Dairy Barn Cultural Arts Center.

Hocking Valley Quilt Exhibit

Each year members of the Hocking Valley Quilters out do themselves to bring one of the finest quilt exhibitions in the Hocking Valley to The Bowen House.

 

Christmaas Tree Celebration of Trees


An all-time favorite Bowen House Program, the Celebration of Trees features a display and sale of trees, wreaths and other holiday creations produced by young and old alike.

01Bud Simpson –  

Bud Simpson was born and raised in Brewer, Maine .  After leaving the U.S. Navy in 1960, he lived in California and worked in the precision optics field in theaerospace industry for fourteen years.  He moved back to his native Maine in1974 and worked in the shoe industry there until 1994.  He and his wife, Margo,moved to Ohio in 1994 where he worked for Rocky Shoes and Boots until heretired.  They now reside in Logan , Ohio .  He is an artist who works in most mediums, a sculptor, photographer and writer.

 

02 Dennis Savage –  

  

Dennis has lived Hocking County since the early 1970’s.  A counselor at Logan High School, he has been a photographer all of his adult life.  Savage has been exhibiting his photographs since 1985.  He was selected three times by the Ohio Arts Council for an individual fellowship in photography.  Savage’s work will be            included in a show at the Rife Gallery in Columbus in July and at the Weston Gallery in Cincinnati in the fall.  His work can always be seen at Great Expectations Café and more at the Hocking Hills Farmer’s Market on U.S. Route 33 just east of Rockbridge.

 

His works relate to the people and region of southeastern Ohio .  His images attempt to comment on our vital and primal connection to the earth..  Other work is more traditional and includes landscapes and environmental portraiture.  He desires to capture the essence of things.  It is magic when it happens and  motivates him to keep working.

03Bill McComb–

Bill will have some of his wood carved and painted birds on display.  He has combined his love for birds with years of woodcarving and shows this in an art form.  Bill has studied bird carving with:  Ora Anderson and Bob Palmer along with carving with Spirit Williams.
